Count refund limits in the right units

Avoid confusing dollars, integer minor units, invocation budgets and refund exposure when configuring agent limits.

refundscurrencybudgets

A limit of 500 does not necessarily mean $500. The Stripe refund adapter uses integer minor units in the action's configured currency. For a USD example, 500 means $5.00 and 50,000 means $500.00. Keep the stored integer, currency and displayed amount together through review and reporting.

Anlyon operation budgets and impact limits answer different questions. A budget counts covered Anlyon operations for a key. An impact limit constrains the quantity a governed action changes within its environment and scope. Ten invocations can move very different amounts of money.

Write down the unit contract

For each refund action, record its configured currency, accepted integer amount, display conversion and applicable money limit. Do not use a floating-point display amount as the ledger quantity. Validate that the input and action currency agree before presenting the operation for review.

Example inputUSD interpretation
1250$12.50
12500$125.00
A string containing "$12.50"A display value, not the adapter's integer amount

These examples are specific to USD. Confirm the currency conventions for any other supported currency from its provider reference rather than applying a universal division by 100.

Test the boundary values

Use a test account and check a positive valid amount, zero, an invalid noninteger, a mismatched currency, the exact remaining allowance and an amount just above it. Confirm validation errors are distinguishable from exhausted capacity and provider rejection. Invalid input should not be reported to the agent as a completed refund.

A refund also counts as one resource mutation in the adapter's documented impact. If both a money limit and a mutation limit apply, either can constrain the operation. Inspect the rejection reason instead of assuming every refusal is a dollar limit.

Present both controls clearly

Label the operation budget separately from the refund allowance in your runbook. Include unresolved exposure when explaining available money. A timeout does not replenish the allowance.

Configure the adapter using governed effects, inspect impact limits, and follow held exposure when the numbers appear not to recover.
